There are many variables in the final price of a course pack. Custom publishing adds no charge to the course pack for it's services. We only charge for the printing and materials cost. We have no control over what will be charged as a copyright fee so therefore we cannot estimate that ahead of time. Another variable in the price of course packs is the number of desk copies requested. Since we do not charge the department for desk copies we have to charge them back by pricing them into the final price of the course pack. This is the reason you should limit the number of desk copies requested to only those that you really need.

If you would like a basic guideline of final cost to go by, you can use the following method. Please remember this is only a way of guessing. The final price of non-copyrighted course packs would be approximately .06 - .07 a printed page. The final cost of copyrighted material would be approximately $3.00 - $3.50 per article or chapter. There is not really a close way of estimating the final cost of an entire out of print book, but it usually costs less per page to request the entire book.
